Color of Fall 2016: Yummy!

This Fall/Winter 2016-17 color forecast is nothing less than gorgeous!  While I’m digging just about all of them, here are my favorites!

Spicy Mustard – A vibrant color that would add spice to any outfit

Warm Taupe – Being the laid back kind of girl I am, I love the versatility of neutral’s.  The warm and monochromatic feel allows this color to pair with almost all of Pantones list.

Bodacious – As the name states, this rich purple with undertones of pink represents the attractive and the confident!

Potter’s Clay – I love earthy shades, and this color with its foundation of brown and Russet orange sings Autumn!

Sharkskin – Do you remember the sharkskin suit?, … uh, okay, maybe I’m dating myself! This has nothing to do with the suit itself, but everything to do with the rich, sexy yet masculine look!

Lush Meadow – Also a color that screams Autumn with its feeling of rich foliage. This color screams elegance and luxury!

It’s Time to “Fall” for Style!

Hello all!  Yes it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but I’m back and ready to chat about the upcoming fall season. And although the weather is still steaming hot, it will be here before you know it. The good news, … from the runway at fashion week, there were lots of recurring looks from the previous fall season, and if you’ve purchased some of the statement pieces last year such as fur vest(s),  and embraced your layering expertise, you are pretty much ready for this year. With that said, it’s all about just mixing up things in your existing wardrobe and acquiring a few extras to give it a fresh look; not to mention the springlike styles gives prudence that warm weather will extend through much of fall.

My favorite, … the off-the-shoulder style! What a sexy chic look that can be slayed at the most casual of affairs to the  most formal. While this style was pretty hot this summer, it appears that it is continuing right through to fall with dramatic detailing in blouses, sweaters and sexy chic dresses!   Florals and prints (although not everyone can pull these off), were also seen in everything from dresses to pantsuits; bright colors, and yes, chokers were a big show as well.
From the runway to street style to your budget conscience go-to boutiques, check out a few of these looks for Fall 2016!

DMV Fashion!

So who and what the (explicit) is DMV Fashion!  The sometimes overlooked place when it comes to high fashion. The  Washington DC Metropolitan area, which encompasses the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia and affectionately called (DMV) by its residents, is well on its way of becoming one of the top places for high fashion and street style.  With a number of professional photographers, designers, models and fashion industry experts the DMV has more to offer than grey pant suits, red ties and politics! … It’s no secret New York held the reigns over fashion for decades. By the 1990’s what was then called “Press Week”, runway shows were held all over town, … in studios, lofts and many other locations. … By early to mid 1990, and after a few name and event locations changes, “New York Fashion Week” was born and the rest is history.  That being said, it’s no wonder when you speak of high fashion and fashion week events, you immediately thought of New York, Paris, London and Milan. Today fashion week’s are popping up in just about every metropolitan city in the United States. But hidden all over the DMV, are luxury independent designers and fashion guru’s that are making a lot of beautiful noise! … And that my friend,  is the reason for this post. So with that said, let me introduce you to Afua Sam, Founder and Head Designer of STUDIO D’MAXSI,. Celebrated as an innovative, sophisticated and edgy women’s wear line for the modern woman. STUDIO D’MAXSI makes unique designs for the sexy, classy, funky, chic and confident woman.
